This Week's App: Research Rabbit

What is Research Rabbit?

Research Rabbit is a research discovery tool that uses AI and visualization to make the research process much easier. We were first briefly introduced to this tool in Ep 92 when Justin Harbin talked about it, but since then we have been able to play with it more and have so much to share!

What can it be used for?

Research Rabbit is a tool that allows you to input any academic paper or resource. Using AI, it then analyzes the content and author to find more relevant papers or works related to the topic or written by the same author. But that's not all, it also creates a mind map visualization that shows the connections between all the resources it finds. This information can be used to analyze the resources, create collections, and even share those collections with other researchers for discussion and collaboration. To get a better idea of how powerful this thing is, we recommend watching the introduction video below:

Now your brain at this point is probably spinning with a ton of ideas for this tool. Ours were too, but as we have had time with this tool we have crystalized a few specific ideas.

  1. Research for Academic Papers or Articles - We know many professors and academic professionals who work on papers or articles, and they often talk about how much work it can be to gather all the necessary sources before writing. This tool would be great for this task, especially for those collaborating with others, because you can create collections, share them, and discuss the sources you have.
  2. Research for Dissertations - The same reasons that make this a powerful tool for academic papers or articles also make it a powerful tool for doctoral students writing their dissertations. You can encourage your students to use this tool as a starting point for research and for organizing resources. It even integrates with Zotero.
  3. Basic Research Projects - Research Rabbit doesn't have to be used only for academic papers or doctoral work. You could give this tool to your students who have to do group research projects or need to gather resources for an annotated bibliography. At the end of the day, it helps make finding resources easier.

How do I get started?

The thing we love most about Research Rabbit is that it provides all this power for free! Currently, Research Rabbit is committed to its mission of providing this tool for free. This means that to get started, all you need to do is go to researchrabbitapp.com and click the "Sign Up" button to create an account. From there, you just need to create your first collection and add a paper to it to get started.
