This Week's App: MathWhiteBoard

What is MathWhiteBoard?

Have you ever struggled with teaching math through a digital platform? Tell me if this sounds familiar, you have a student virtually who has an issue with a problem, so you have them write out the issue and what they are doing. They take a picture of their work, you review it, give feedback, send another a picture and that goes on and on till both of you are frustrated.

It is a whiteboard designed specifically for Math.

MathWhiteBoard is a free collaborative browser-based whiteboard designed specifically for mathematics teaching and learning. It isn't just a whiteboard tool you can try math on but is a whiteboard designed specifically for Math. Unlike other tools in this space, everything is catered to teaching math and learning math.

What can it be used for?

MathWhiteBoard can be used for a lot of different types of math, from simple to complex algebraic equations. It allows you to write or type math, graph, import worksheets and write on them, compute complex equations, and even animate equations. On top of all of this, it will also solve equations for you!

This whiteboard has several applications, but we believe some of the major uses are, teaching math online, creating video content for an online math course, virtual math tutoring, and even content creation. Basically, this tool can be used to work on math digitally in whatever form is most useful to you.

Another important factor is that this tool allows you to collaboratively work with students on math at the same time, which means you can do math live in a Zoom session while having students also contribute. You can even distribute different boards in a single session to groups and allow them to break out and collaborate.

When it comes to math this whiteboard can be used for a lot of things. Below is a great example that we were shown while meeting with MathWhiteBoard. The person showing us what it could do graphed, wrote, and displayed an equation for calculating the time it takes two cars to meet each other all at once.
