What is Screencast-O-Matic?

Screencast-O-Matic is a screencasting tool that allows you to record and edit videos.

Videos are used for many different things in education, from flipped content to videos for online courses. With this tool you can easily record your screen and webcam together to create high quality videos to meet these needs.

What can it be used for?

As is probably obvious, the main use of Screencast-O-Matic is to record videos, but it is no ordinary video recorder, it has several features that can be vital.

• Record Webcam & Screen - The main advantage is that this tool allows anyone using it to record both a screen and a webcam together. This works great for recording lecture videos or walk through videos. Your students can also use it to record presentations for a class or anything else that may require a webcam or screen recording.
• Live Editing - As you are recording a video at any point you can pause your recording, rewatch what you recorded, and edit the video from any point in the video.
• Annotation Tools - While recording you can access a full library of annotation tools that allows you to draw, add text, or icons over top of anything you are recording. These tools also work with tablet pens.
• Final Editing Features - When you are done recording you can also you a bigger library of video editing tools that allows you to cut out parts of the video, add music, and add overlay features. This final editing tool is great for putting final production features on the video.

All of these features come together to create a great video production and editing tool that you can use to post video content, announcements, walk throughs, and that can be used by your students to complete video projects. That and with a paid account you can also create video quizzes.
