This Week's App: Frame.io

What is Frame.io?

Frame.io is a central hub ****that streamlines video communication by allowing you to share, review, and collaborate on video projects in real-time. It is designed to centralize communication during the video production process by allowing people to write feedback directly on the frames of a video, and have that feedback show up right in the editor's timeline.

What can it be used for?

We choose to talk about Frame now because we are kicking off the Ungrading Series with this episode. Ungrading requires a lot of feedback, and Frame allows you to provide granular feedback on any video your student creates. Specifically, for those of you teaching media production, marketing, communications, etc., Frame allows you to provide feedback directly on the video your student creates.

For example, as you can see in the image below, Frame allows you to comment directly on each frame of a video, with annotations, to point out things your students could change or enhance.

Then that feedback shows up directly in a sidebar in Frame and in the editors timeline for the video. If that wasn’t enough, Frame also allows you and your student to see the different versions of a video through the compare versions feature (see example below).

All these features combined provide a centralized platform for you to provide formative feedback on video production at every stage of the video.

How do I get started?

First, you need to know if you already have the Adobe Creative Suite, that Frame is a part of that Suite, so all you need is your adobe account to start using the tool. If you dont have that already then we recommend signing up for the free account to test some of the features to see if it will work for you. You can learn more at their Pricing Page.
